Born in Acapulco, Mexico, Eva Melissa first experienced folklore dance at the age of four and continued dancing with her school group until she was seventeen. Through this art form, she developed confidence, discipline, a strong connection to her roots, and a great pride in preserving Mexican traditions.
She joined Mexico Lindo as a dancer in 2019, returning to folkloric dance after a 14-year break. Since then, she has helped teach dancers new rhythms and choreographies, written grants, and successfully pitched a proposal that led Mexico Lindo to present a historic 90-minute production in the Bomhard Theatre of the Kentucky Performing Arts Center. Soon after, she assisted la Directora Ana Lane in making Mexico Lindo an official non-profit, in which she has taken the position as its Treasurer.


Eva Melissa has multicultural and multilingual professional experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UPAEP University in Mexico and a dual Master’s degree in Marketing Management and International Studies from Oklahoma State University. Her work centers on community engagement, cultural understanding, and creating opportunities for multicultural families. In 2018, Eva served as a volunteer and board member of a nonprofit organization in Brazil. In 2019, Eva Melissa immigrated to Louisville and made it her home. That same year. She started as an intern for the Office for Globalization and became their Program Manager in 2020. She currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of La Casita Center.
Her recognitions include Latina of the Year in 2020, Forty Under 40 in 2024, and Roots and Wings: Hispanic Women Who Lead in 2025.
